Fence Supply in West Texas — Three Fence Supply Centers, Open to the Public

Yes, we sell to the public, and there is no minimum order. All-State Fence & Supply runs three Fence Supply Centers: Lubbock; Canyon, serving Amarillo; and Midland, serving Midland and Odessa. Homeowners, contractors, ranchers and oilfield crews buy at the same counter, from people whose own crews have been building fence in West Texas since 1979. Buy five pickets or a full bundle, pick it up, or have it delivered from $75 ($150 from Midland).

What does fence material cost at the counter?

Lumber and steel prices change with almost every rail car and truckload, so pickets, rails, posts and chain link are priced at the counter on the day you buy. The prices below are our lowest everyday counter prices, before tax, as of October 2026. Larger orders, contractors, schools and government buyers pay less, so treat these as starting points, not a quote.

MaterialStarting at
Wood gate hardware kit$30.80
Wood Defender stain, 5-gallon bucket$183.41
DeliveryFrom $75 ($150 from Midland) · no minimum order

Bring a length, a height and a style, and the counter will turn those three numbers into a full materials list with a total before you commit to anything.

Why is our cedar more than a big-box picket?

Because it is Western Red Cedar, and a lot of what gets sold as "cedar" is not. All-State stocks Western Red Cedar cut from Canadian logs from the West Coast and milled in Washington, the same pickets our installation crews put up. Coastal cedar comes from bigger trees with fewer knots than cedar cut from the interior, so it warps and cracks less. Our standard picket is sold as 1" x 3½" x 6′; the actual thickness is ⅝", which is the industry-standard dimension for a fence picket, and we say so because a buyer comparing two quotes should be comparing the same board.

The cheaper boards on the market right now are mostly imported "Japanese cedar," which is Cryptomeria and is often sold as import cedar: a different species at roughly half the price. It looks close on the day it goes up. How it behaves after a few West Texas summers is the whole story, and we wrote it out plainly here: Japanese Cedar vs. Real Western Red Cedar.

We stock 3½-inch pickets in 6-foot only; 4-inch pickets in 6, 7 and 8 feet, in dog-ear, gothic point and flat top; and 6-inch pickets in 6, 7 and 8 feet, in dog-ear and flat top.

Pickets, rails and posts — not pre-built panels

We don’t sell pre-built fence panels, and our crews don’t build with them. A panel is assembled square on a flat floor; a West Texas yard isn’t flat, so a panel fence either racks or steps. Built rail by rail and picket by picket, the fence follows the ground and stays square. That’s the fence we build, so it’s the material we sell.

Cedar fence styles and stain colors

Every style below is built from the same cedar we sell over the counter, finished in Wood Defender stain. Come look at the full-size sections in the showroom before you pick a color.

Which steel post do I need?

Every steel post we sell has the same 2⅜-inch outside diameter, so they look alike in the rack. What makes one strong and another weak is the wall thickness. Schedule 40 is the heaviest post available, and it’s the only post our crews set on a wood fence, at least 3 feet deep in concrete: the top 2 feet of ground is softer, and the last foot is where the hole reaches harder dirt and clay. On a 6-foot fence in town, out of the wind, a customer can choose the next-heaviest .095 post to save money. The counter also sells a lighter .065 post, and even thinner posts made for chain link, which look the same from the outside but should never hold up a wood fence. A 7- or 8-foot fence needs a 9- or 10-foot Schedule 40 post, plus a foot for a capped fence.

We stock galvanized Schedule 40 posts in every size at all three Fence Supply Centers, lighter medium and light-duty posts in fewer sizes, and 4×4 cedar posts in 7 and 8 feet. We don’t sell treated wood posts. Post-hole concrete is sold at every Fence Supply Center.

What's the difference between our chain link and a box store's?

Ours is galvanized after weaving (GAW). Most box-store chain link is galvanized before weaving (GBW). In a GBW roll, the wire is coated first and then bent into the diamond pattern, which cracks the coating at every bend — exactly where rust starts. GAW fabric is woven first and then dipped, so the zinc covers the finished knuckles and cut ends too. It costs more to make, and it lasts longer, which is why it’s the standard for commercial, oilfield and security fence where a failed run costs more than the fabric did. Our fabric is also a tighter 2¼-inch mesh, which makes it heavier than the 2⅜-inch mesh most box stores sell at the same height and gauge. Fabric is priced by the linear foot, with a charge to cut a partial roll.

Along with the fabric: top rail, line and terminal posts, tension bands and bars, ties, caps and rail ends, and walk and drive gates. Every Fence Supply Center stocks residential fabric in 11½ and 12½ gauge, 4 to 6 feet tall, and commercial fabric in 11 gauge up to 8 feet and 9 gauge up to 10 feet, with 12-foot 9-gauge fabric at Lubbock and Midland. Vinyl-coated fabric is special order. Barbed wire and razor ribbon are stocked by the roll at all three Fence Supply Centers.

Gates and hardware

Hinges, latches, drop rods, cane bolts, gate wheels and complete gate kits to hang a wood gate — a wood gate hardware kit starts at $30.80. Would rather have it built and hung? See gate installation for Lubbock, Amarillo and Midland–Odessa.

All-State is a LiftMaster Professional partner and installs gate operators and access control, and repairs every make and model. Operators and access-control parts are sold over the counter at all three Fence Supply Centers and usually arrive within a week. The only pre-built gates we stock are residential chain link; wood gate frames and commercial chain link gates are built to size in our Lubbock shop, and ornamental iron gates are special-ordered.

We don’t carry field fence, horse fence, hog wire, livestock panels or ranch gates.

Wood Defender stain

All-State is an authorized Wood Defender dealer at all three Fence Supply Centers, with the full line in stock and every color displayed on cedar boards at each location — so you see the stain on the wood you’re buying, not on a paper chip. A 5-gallon bucket starts at $183.41. We sell the stain; our listed local applicators put it on.

Ornamental iron and vinyl

Do you deliver?

Yes, from all three Fence Supply Centers. Delivery starts at $75 ($150 from the Midland Fence Supply Center), and there’s no minimum order — you don’t have to buy a truckload to get it brought out. Large orders ride on a semi with a piggyback forklift, so a pallet of pickets lands where you want it, not at the curb. For pickup, pull in and we load you. The fee depends on distance, quantity and weight, and most orders go out within a week of purchase, often sooner.

Do contractors get a better price?

Yes. Contractors, schools and government buyers get discounted pricing on everything at the counter, with deeper discounts by volume. Charge accounts are set up case by case for contractors and businesses. Orders run from a handful of pickets to full pallets and bundles. Ask for the counter manager at your nearest Fence Supply Center to get set up.

Is every Fence Supply Center the same?

Every Fence Supply Center sells to the public, carries the core line above and delivers. Each one also stocks for the work around it. Canyon carries cedar split-rail fence, which Lubbock doesn’t. Lubbock carries dimensional lumber for same-day pickup, which Canyon and Midland don’t. Midland carries the most chain link, because that’s where most of our large chain link jobs are.

Lubbock is the only Fence Supply Center open Saturday, 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Yes. All three Fence Supply Centers sell to homeowners, contractors and ranchers, with no minimum order.

How much is a cedar fence picket?

How is chain link priced?

By the linear foot, with a charge to cut a partial roll. Steel prices change almost every week, so call the nearest Fence Supply Center for today’s price.

How much does delivery cost?

From $75, or $150 from the Midland Fence Supply Center, with no minimum order. The fee depends on distance, quantity and weight.

Is your cedar real Western Red Cedar?

Yes — Western Red Cedar cut from Canadian logs from the West Coast and milled in Washington. They’re the same pickets our crews install.

Do you sell pre-built fence panels?

No. Pickets, rails and posts follow the ground; panels don’t.

Do you carry Penofin?

We can special-order it, but for cedar fence we recommend Wood Defender, which we stock in the full line.

Can you tell me how much material I need?

Yes. Bring measurements or send them through the form, and the counter builds the list.

A note on sizes: lumber is sold by its nominal size. A picket sold as 1 inch measures closer to ⅝ inch, and a rail sold as a 2×4 measures about 3⅝ inches.
