Board on Board
This decorative fence is considered a “Complete Privacy Fence”. This fence is popular with home owners who own swimming pools and hot tubs since its design conceals the gaps left between the boards caused by shrinkage. There are two layers of boards on this fence. The first layer consists of 6” wide boards installed with a 1 ½” gap between boards. The second layer consists of 4” wide boards. The second layer of boards is installed over the gaps and overlaps the first layer of boards. This design prevents people from seeing through the gaps after the boards shrink. A decorative 2” x 4” cedar cap is installed horizontally at the top of this type of fence. This design looks very nice and will add 4 to 6 extra inches of “height privacy” because the boards have not been cut like the Gothic Point and Dog Ear styles and considering the width of the cap.
