Sealants - How much?
There are two types of "Wood Defender" stains. One is "Transparent" and one is "Semi-Transparent". The transparent stain will cover 210 square feet per gallon. The semi-transparent stain will cover 150 square feet per gallon.
In order to estimate the amount of "Wood Defender" material you need to stain your fence, multiply the total linear footage times the height of the fence. If you want to stain both sides of the fence then double this number. You now have the total square footage of the fence. Each gallon of "Wood Defender" transparent stain will cover 210 square feet. Simply divide your total square footage by 210 (150 for semi-transparent) to find the number of gallons you need. We carry "Wood Defender" stain in 1 gallon and 5 gallon cans.
Example:
| Linear Footage | 240' |
|---|---|
| Height | x 6' |
| Both Sides | x 2' |
| Total Square Footage | = 2880' sq. |
| 1 Gallon Square Footage | / 210' sq. |
| Total Gallons Needed | = 13.7 |
